:: TIPS ON TRAVEL IN THAILAND ::
1. Time
- Thailand’s Timing is 1 hour behind Singapore’s time.
- Our Conversion was 1 SGD ~ 23.9 Thai Baht
2. Food & Drink
- Tap Water isn’t safe for consumption so purchase bottled water or boil water in your hotel kettle and bring them along in water bottles (That’s what we usually do). Alas, I forgot all about ice-cubes. though we drank plenty of fruit juices with ice or crushed ice and nothing happened.
- If you are not used to street food in Asia, better try only a little. Stomach flu, diarrhoea and vomiting are common problems. (Our boy vomitted once after eating at Chatuchak…but fortunately nothing serious)
3. Clothing To Wear
Religious places requires visitors to cover up their shoulders and thighs. Hence, to prevent being stopped from entering, wear covered t-shirts, blouses and long pants or long skirts for your trip. I’m sensitive to sharing clothing with others, so even if sarongs were given freely for me to cover temporarily, I would not want it. Who knows whether they actually cleaned it or not? Yikes, imagine how many people borrowed the same thing to wear….O_O Thus, bring along your own sarong if you absolutely need to wear sleeveless…
It was extremely sunny so we wore sunscreen, UV protection hats while out and about and light clothing such as dri-fit wear and cotton t-shirts.
4. Money Exchange
- A bank for money exchange could be found in Chatuchak market. If you ran out of cash in the middle of shopping (like us), just go there and exchange more Thai Baht. Hence, bring along your local currency too. An ATM was also available at the bank.
5. Get From Klook – Attraction Tickets
- We got most of our attraction tickets/services from Klook, which were cheaper than buying them direct.
