Jeju Island is famous for its fresh seafood, especially abalone. Thus, after eating abalone hot stone pot rice on our first day, we wanted to try whether abalone porridge would taste as good.
Restaurant near Sunrise Peak
We heard rave reviews about this restaurant near Seongsan Ilchulbong, Sunrise Peak and put it as a must-visit after our hike up Seongsan Ilchulbong.
It is conveniently located near the mountain’s carpark, where we parked our car and we just needed to take a short walk to it, right after our hike.

Menu
The famous dish here that we wanted to try here in the restaurant was the Abalone Porridge.

Abalone Porridge
We ordered four bowls of abalone porridge for four of us and one grilled mackerel and rice for Dar, since he’s not so fond of the seafood taste. The owner gave us a huge spread of side-dishes! I liked the kimchi and those pinkish vegetables. Nobody touched the bean sprouts, except Ling who played with it. I couldn’t remember whether I tried the jelly-like thing but we were all concentrating on finishing our huge bowl of porridge and only ate a little of the side-dishes (not our kind of thing).

Do we like the taste? My parents felt it was just okay and had not much comments while Vin loved it and wished there was another bowl! I found the abalone taste peculiar again, but enjoyed this better than the Abalone Hot Stone Pot rice. I guess, I am just not used to eating abalone. However, this huge bowl filled our stomach well after we had just spent lots of energy hiking up Sunrise Peak. Porridge is always a nice comfort food!
Grilled Fish
The grilled fish was huge too and we shared some portions with Dar. The staff helped us to cut it up so Dar could pick up the meat himself easily. It was done very well and we all enjoyed it.

After this, we drove back to our accommodation to take a rest before heading to our next itinerary, coastal walk at Mt. Songaksan.
