Hello! It’s been a while since I came back to this site, although I updated some trip posts in September 2020 last year for our Taiwan trip in 2018.
The global situation is not loosening up and in fact, it had gotten worse in Singapore recently (May 2021 -June 2021). Schools closed in mid-May and switched to home-based learning. I took my girl out of Preschool even though it is still open, as the new strain of virus is spreading like wildfire and the risk is greater.
A recap on happenings in our life (2019-2021):
I went into full-time tutoring at the start of 2019.
In early 2020, I was suddenly diagnosed with a medical condition and had to stop work to treat it. Coincidentally, that was the time when the pandemic started in Singapore. For the entire lower half of 2020, I end up nursing my condition after a major surgery and did not get to write here.
Meanwhile, my 12-year-old took his major Primary examinations last year and entered Secondary school life in January this year. He did well for his exams and got into a good school in the East. Due to this, we started searching for a new house, did renovations and finally moved from the North to the East. Therefore, I was pretty busy with lots of things in our life at the first half of 2021 too, and seriously neglected this blog.
The Future of Travel
The pandemic had killed all our travel plans for now. We bought our first car in 2019, hoping to drive to Malaysia for road-trips whenever there are holidays… but now, it seemed like a distant future.
We also had grand plans to go for a long holiday in Japan for my son’s graduation trip because he loves Japanese trains so much but all that had to be cancelled. Hopefully, we would get there in the future when the situation is better. (For people reading this now, we eventually went in 2022 and 2024!)

Right now, my hubby had finished his vaccination, my son and I are half-vaccinated but my daughter is too young to do vaccination. Even if we are all vaccinated, there is still a 5% chance of getting the virus, a risk that might be too heavy to bear if we are overseas. Sigh.
Travel Blogging 2021
Thus, it seemed like we would not be able to travel for a while. What should I do with this blog? We started this blog in 2013 when we went to stay in Germany for a month due to Vin’s work. The main objective then, was to record our travels and share them with people who care to read. Throughout these years, it grew bigger and there are now 323 posts on the site with articles on places we visited in 15 countries.
With the flurry of activities in our daily lives, I had certainly not updated with the most recent of travels (we went to Okinawa in Dec 2019) and thus, they had become “out-dated”.
Still, interesting and historical places are always still there in the country. I’m sure most of them would not change too much.
I’m going to find a good angle to write and share them faster instead of long detailed articles….Also, I would like to share about our local explorations in Singapore for visitors that would come to Singapore in the future.
